Deck repairs in progress — rot removal, framing fixes, stairs, and finished results.
The spongy deck boards may have started this project. However once you remove one thing you uncover another... just like this.
Rotten boards torn up. I did double up / replace a few joists and skirt boards.
We replaced boards, some joists, the skirt board, the post, and built a new railing system to match the existing.

Working on the last section including full replacement of the staircase.

Rot can hide under the surface — once boards come up, framing and hardware problems often show up too. This project included board replacement, framing repairs, post work, and a railing system that matches the existing.
If you see any of these, it’s usually cheaper to handle it early before rot spreads.
